Website Blocker for Chrome and Edge: Block Sites While You Focus

Block distracting websites during focus time in Chrome and Edge. Block list or allow list, path exceptions, gentle or strict blocking. No account.

Updated

Most distraction starts with one tab. You open a site out of habit, and twenty minutes later the task you sat down for is still waiting. SuperchargeFocus puts a pause between the habit and the site: while you focus, the sites you named open to a short block card instead of their feed.

It runs in Chrome and Edge, with no account and no sign-in.

Two Ways to Write Your Rules

Pick the mode that matches how you work. You can switch at any time from the panel.

ModeWhat happens during focusGood for
Block listOnly the sites you list are restrictedA handful of known time sinks
Allow listEvery site is restricted except the ones you listDeep work that needs two or three tools

You can save up to 100 rules. A focus session needs at least one rule, so an empty list can never block the whole web by accident.

One Rule Covers the Whole Site

Type a domain, or paste any link from the site. SuperchargeFocus keeps the site and drops the rest of the link.

  • x.com covers x.com, www.x.com, m.x.com and every other subdomain.
  • reddit.com/r/news restricts only that section and the pages under it.
  • Wildcards are not needed and not accepted. The site name is the rule.

The first-run setup offers one-tap chips for common picks: YouTube, Reddit, X, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.

Path Exceptions

Sometimes the site you block holds the one page you need. A path exception keeps that part of the site open while the rest stays restricted. For example, block reddit.com but add an exception for reddit.com/r/learnprogramming. Exceptions match by site and path; anything after a question mark in a link is ignored.

Exceptions apply to focus rules only. If a site has a daily allowance and you have used it up, an exception does not reopen it.

Gentle or Strict

You choose what a blocked site does when you land on it.

Gentle shows the block card with three buttons: Go back (Close tab when there is nothing to go back to), Open Focus, and Continue anyway. Continue anyway asks how long you need (5, 15 or 30 minutes), waits five seconds so the choice is deliberate, and then lets that tab through. When the extra time ends, the block returns.

Strict removes Continue anyway. The block card only offers Go back and Open Focus. You can still end the session or change your rules from the panel, so strict mode is a firm default, not a lock.

What the Block Card Shows

The card names the site and the reason: “reddit.com is blocked while you focus.” It shows the site’s own icon, so you can tell at a glance where you were heading. If the page was blocked by a used-up daily allowance instead, the headline says so and names your limit.

When Rules Apply

Focus rules work during a focus session you start by hand, or during a recurring focus window you set for workdays. Outside those times, rules stay saved and sites open normally.

Taking a break (5 or 15 minutes) pauses every restriction until the break ends.

What Is Not Blocked

Browser settings pages and the extension store are restricted by Chrome and Edge for every extension. SuperchargeFocus cannot run there, so its panel opens on this website instead when you click it on one of those pages.

If you want to group work tabs instead of blocking sites, the focus mode guide covers workspaces in SuperchargeNavigation. For time-boxed access instead of a hard block, see daily time limits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does blocking apply all the time?
No. Focus rules apply while a focus session or a recurring focus window is running. Outside those times your rules stay saved and the sites open normally. Daily allowances are separate: they count every day, whether or not you are focusing.
Does blocking x.com also block m.x.com?
Yes. A rule names a site the way people do. x.com covers x.com, www.x.com, m.x.com and every other subdomain. Add a path, such as reddit.com/r/news, to restrict only that part of a site.
What is the difference between a block list and an allow list?
With a block list, only the sites you list are restricted while you focus. With an allow list, every site is restricted except the ones you list. An empty allow list never blocks the web; you need at least one rule before a session can start.
Can I still reach one page on a blocked site?
Yes. Add a path exception, such as reddit.com/r/learnprogramming while reddit.com is blocked. Exceptions keep that part of the site open during focus. They do not lift a daily allowance that has run out.
Does SuperchargeFocus send my block list anywhere?
No. Rules are stored in your browser's local extension storage. There is no account and no analytics.
