MP4 and WebM Export Chrome Extension — Screen Recordings

Export SuperchargeCapture recordings as WebM, or MP4 where the browser can encode it, at 480p to 1080p with 24, 30 or 60 fps. Free, no paid tier.

Updated

A recording is only as useful as the file it becomes. SuperchargeCapture’s editor exports video as WebM, and as MP4 where the browser can encode it, with controls over resolution, frame rate and bitrate. If a short loop is what you need, the GIF option sits in the same row. All of it is free.

What Video Export Does

The editor’s video exports come out as WebM, MP4 (only when the browser supports encoding it), or GIF. Every export is free, with no paid tier, no watermark on the output, and no imposed time limit on how long a recording runs, though storage and track limits still apply. By default an export takes the full recording; trim the range first if you want a shorter piece.

Setup in Three Steps

  1. Record a tab, the whole window, or the screen from the popup’s Record tab.
  2. Open the recording in the editor from the popup’s local library.
  3. Choose the format and export settings you want, then export.

How It Differs From GIF Export

GIF is a separate choice in the same export row, and the two formats earn their different roles by their limits. Video exports (WebM or MP4) run at 24, 30 or 60 fps. GIFs are capped at 120 seconds, so a longer range has to be trimmed first, and they run at 12, 24 or 30 fps. Pick the video format for a longer piece, and the GIF for a short loop under the cap.

Permissions, Privacy and Compatibility

SuperchargeCapture declares the activeTab, storage, tabs, tabCapture, offscreen, scripting, unlimitedStorage and identity permissions, plus an optional host-access permission for all URLs. Recordings are stored in the browser’s Origin Private File System (OPFS) on your device. The editor and export need no account: the optional Drive share uses your Google account. The extension sends no telemetry, and the only data that can leave your machine is an export you choose to share via the optional, user-initiated Google Drive button.
