Night Tint and Page Dimming for Websites in Chrome and Edge

Add a warm tint to web pages and dim their brightness, with per-site exceptions and a sunset to sunrise schedule. Chrome and Edge, no account.

Updated

Late in the evening a bright white page can feel harsh. Night tint lays a warm overlay over web pages, and a second slider lowers their brightness. Both have per-site exceptions and can switch on with the sunset.

SuperchargeFocus runs in Chrome and Edge, with no account.

Two Sliders

ControlRangeWhat it does
Night tint strength0 to 100Warmth of the overlay on web pages
Reduce page brightness0% to 80%Dims the page under the tint

Use them together or on their own. Turning night tint off leaves the brightness setting where you put it.

Website Content Only

Filters change website content only. The browser’s tabs, address bar and settings, your desktop and other apps stay as they are. If you want a warm screen everywhere, use your operating system’s display settings alongside this.

Per-Site Exceptions

Some sites need true colors: a photo editor, a design tool, a video you are grading. From the panel on that site you can:

  • Skip tint on this site.
  • Skip dimming on this site.
  • Keep tint and dimming off photos and video, so images and video show their real colors while the rest of the page stays warm.
  • Show original, which turns off tint, dimming and theme on the site in one step.

On a Schedule

Night tint has its own schedule, separate from the light and dark schedule:

  • Fixed hours, such as 21:00 to 07:00.
  • Sunset to sunrise, with both edges shifted by up to 120 minutes either way.
  • Chosen days only, if you want weekends different from weekdays.

For sunset timing you type a latitude and longitude once. The times are computed on your device and the extension never requests your location.

Turning night tint on or off by hand turns its schedule off, so your manual choice is never undone by the next schedule check.

Works With Dark Mode

Night tint sits on top of the page’s theme. A dark page with a light tint and slight dimming is a common evening setup. Each piece can be skipped per site.

Stored Locally

Strength, brightness, exceptions and schedules are saved in your browser’s local extension storage. There is no account and no analytics.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does night tint change my whole screen?
No. Filters change website content only. The browser's own tabs and toolbar, your desktop and other apps are not tinted or dimmed.
Can I turn it off on one site?
Yes. Each site can skip the tint, skip the dimming, or keep both off photos and video. Show original turns off tint, dimming and theme on that site at once.
How does the sunset schedule know when sunset is?
You type a latitude and longitude once. Sunset and sunrise are calculated on your device. The extension never asks the browser for your location.
Is dimming the same as dark mode?
No. Dark mode changes a page's colors. Dimming lowers the brightness of the page as it is. You can use either, or both.
