Mono Audio Chrome Extension — Fix One-Ear Audio

Free SuperchargeAudio mono control and stereo width for Chrome and Edge. Mono is a temporary per-tab fix, not a saved site setting.

Updated

A voice mixed to one ear, or a mix that sounds too wide, both have a quick fix in SuperchargeAudio: switch the output channel to mono, or drag the stereo width slider. The control lives in the popup, applies to the tab you are on, and costs nothing.

What Mono Audio Does

SuperchargeAudio’s output channel setting defaults to stereo, with mono and widen as the other options. Mono plays both channels in each ear, so audio mixed to one side is heard from both.

Setup in Three Steps

  1. Install SuperchargeAudio on Chrome or Edge.
  2. Open its popup on the tab with the audio problem.
  3. Select mono from the output channel options, or drag the width slider to the level you want.

What It Controls

ControlOptionsBehavior
Output channelStereo (default), mono, widenMono is a per-tab fix; it is never persisted
Stereo width0% to 200%0% is a mono mix, 100% is unmodified, 200% is ultra-wide

Width is remembered per site, keyed to the page’s hostname, so the level you set on a site is the level you get the next time you visit.

How It Differs From Remembered Site Width

You can widen a site’s width permanently and still reach for mono on a call whose mix has drifted to one ear.

Permissions, Privacy and Compatibility

SuperchargeAudio declares the storage, tabs, tabCapture and offscreen permissions, plus host access to all URLs. Storage keeps the per-site settings. The extension sends no usage analytics or telemetry, and nothing about your listening goes to a server.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do the width percentages mean?
The stereo width slider runs from 0%, which is a full mono mix, through 100%, the unmodified stereo image, up to 200%, an ultra-wide image.
Is mono and width control free?
Yes. SuperchargeAudio is free on Chrome and Microsoft Edge, with no paid tier.
Which settings are remembered?
Width, along with volume and EQ, is remembered per site by the page's hostname. The per-tab mono fix is not among them, so it never carries over to another tab or a later visit.
