10-Band Equalizer for Chrome — Shape Any Audio

A 10-band EQ (32 Hz–16 kHz, ±12 dB) with 10 named presets and per-site custom curves. Tune every Chrome tab to your headphones and content.

Updated

Chrome routes audio through the browser’s output at whatever the operating system provides — no equalization, no correction for your headphones, no adjustment for the content type. A 10-band equalizer changes that. SuperchargeAudio inserts a series of biquad filters in the Web Audio pipeline, one per frequency band, letting you raise or cut specific ranges before the audio hits your ears.

Frequency Bands

The equalizer covers the full audible range in one-octave steps:

BandFrequencyCharacter
132 HzSub-bass, physical rumble
264 HzBass weight
3125 HzUpper bass, warmth
4250 HzLow mids, body
5500 HzMidrange, presence
61 kHzUpper midrange, clarity
72 kHzPresence, consonants
84 kHzBite, articulation
98 kHzAir, high-end sheen
1016 kHzBrilliance

Each band adjusts from −12 dB (strong cut) to +12 dB (strong boost). At 0 dB the band is neutral and transparent.

Presets

Ten named presets cover common listening scenarios:

PresetPurpose
FlatAll bands at 0 dB — reference/off state
Bass BoostStrong low-end lift from 32 Hz, tapering through 250 Hz
Vocal / VoicePresence boost across 250 Hz–4 kHz, with a low cut
TrebleUpper-range lift from the upper mids up
LoudnessClassic smile curve — lows and highs lifted
RockScooped mids, punchy lows, bright highs
PopTrimmed lows, forward upper-mid presence
ElectronicExtended sub-bass, airy top end
AcousticBalanced natural warmth
Small SpeakersCompensates for limited low-end reproduction

Select a preset as a starting point, then fine-tune individual bands before saving.

Custom Curves Per Site

Every site you visit can carry its own EQ curve. Dial in settings for a music service, a podcast app, and a video conferencing tool separately — SuperchargeAudio loads the right curve automatically based on the tab’s origin.

Combined with volume boost, you can normalise both loudness and tonal balance without touching any system-level audio settings.

Protected Content

On most sites the EQ runs as an in-page Web Audio filter node. For DRM or CSP-locked sites where that is not possible, an opt-in tab-audio-capture mode applies the same EQ to the tab’s rendered audio. This is off by default and adjusts only what you already hear — it does not affect content access or DRM protection.

Privacy

All EQ processing is local. Your saved per-site curves are stored in browser extension storage and never leave your device. No audio data is transmitted; no account is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What frequency bands does the SuperchargeAudio equalizer cover?
The equalizer has 10 bands: 32, 64, 125, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 4000, 8000, and 16000 Hz. Each band can be adjusted from −12 dB to +12 dB.
What presets are included?
SuperchargeAudio ships with 10 named presets: Flat, Bass Boost, Vocal/Voice, Treble, Loudness, Rock, Pop, Electronic, Acoustic, and Small Speakers.
Can I save different EQ settings per website?
Yes. You can create a custom curve and save it to the current site's origin. SuperchargeAudio will apply that curve automatically whenever you visit that site.
Does the equalizer work on music streaming services?
It works on most sites using the in-page Web Audio path. For DRM-protected services where that path is blocked, the optional tab-audio-capture mode (off by default, opt-in) applies the EQ to the tab's audio output instead.
Does Flat reset all bands to zero?
Yes. Selecting the Flat preset sets every band to 0 dB, restoring the original unprocessed audio.
