Webcam Screen Recorder for Chrome — With Blur

A screen recording with your face in the corner lands differently than a faceless one. The tutorial feels like a person explaining it, the product demo feels like a pitch from someone real, the bug report feels like a colleague walking you through it. The problem is usually the setup: a separate webcam app, a compositing step afterward, or a tool that ships the whole thing to a cloud before you can use it.

SuperchargeCapture puts the camera right in the recorder. Turn on the camera bubble for a tab recording, pick your device, optionally blur the background, and record the tab and your face together in a single take.

A Draggable Webcam Bubble

The webcam appears as a circular overlay on top of the tab you’re capturing — the bubble is an overlay on the captured tab, so it belongs to tab recordings, the same source that powers auto-zoom. It’s draggable and resizable, so you place it wherever it won’t cover what matters: bottom-right for a standard talking-head, off to a corner when you need the center of the screen clear, moved again mid-recording if the important content shifts. A device picker lets you choose the right camera when you have more than one (a laptop cam and an external one, say), so you’re never stuck recording from the wrong lens.

Because the bubble is part of the same recorder, your face and your screen are captured together. There’s no second file to line up by hand and no second app to run — one take, one exported video.

Or Place the Bubble After You’ve Recorded

Seeing yourself live and repositioning the bubble later are two different promises, and a toggle — Show me live on the page — lets you pick which one you want. Left on, you get the bubble above: visible while you record, baked into the footage where you put it.

Switch it off, and the camera is recorded as a separate stream instead of being burned into the screen capture. In the editor, it shows up as a fully editable layer: drag the bubble anywhere on the frame, resize it from its corner handle, switch it between circle and square, mirror the self-view, and toggle the soft border ring. The export composites exactly what you set — record first, worry about where your face goes when you can actually see the footage. The trade is stated in the recorder itself: with the live view off there’s no self-view while recording, but nothing about the bubble is final until you export.

On-Device Background Blur

Recording from a real room means whatever is behind you is in the shot. The optional background blur softens it, and it does so on your device. The camera feed is processed locally to produce the blur; your video isn’t streamed to a server to be cleaned up and handed back. That keeps a feature people usually associate with cloud meeting apps fully private: the unblurred feed never leaves your machine.

Built to Combine

The webcam shines in combination with the rest of the recorder. It rides on tab recording, the zero-OS-picker walkthrough source, so you talk over a demo without clicking through a screen-share dialog. Record with the live view off and layer on auto-zoom: the zoom drives into the footage while the bubble sits above it as its own layer, your face staying put in the corner. Add the microphone with its live level meter so you can confirm your audio before you start. The pieces are designed to stack into one polished recording rather than forcing you to assemble them from separate tools.

And the screen recording is crash-safe — written to the browser’s private storage in one-second chunks, so a crash mid-take doesn’t cost you the take. With the live bubble on, your camera is part of that footage and protected the same way.

Privacy

The webcam feed is recorded locally and stays on your device, exactly like the screen capture it accompanies. Background blur is computed on-device, there’s no account, no telemetry, and nothing is injected into pages until you start recording. The only way any recording — webcam included — goes anywhere is if you choose to use the optional Share to Drive button, which uploads to your own Google Drive and never through a SuperchargeBrowser server.
