Spotify Works With the Normal Controls

Audio v1.0.7

The ordinary controls now reach audio they used to miss. On Spotify and other protected audio, the boost, EQ, Wide/8D/Mono and Smart Mute all apply directly — no capture mode needed. Sites whose sound still can't be reached directly say so now: a one-time hint on the page, a badge on the toolbar icon, and a banner at the top of the popup that offers "Turn on capture" or "Not now." And boosted or 8D-hot signals no longer slam into a hard clip: the curve is softer and the 8D level is trimmed, so loud masters stay clean. No new permissions.

Spotify Works With the Normal Controls

On Spotify and other sites that protect their audio, the ordinary controls used to reach the sound only through capture mode: you had to turn capture on, and while it was on the browser showed its “tab is being shared” indicator. On non-ChromeOS, the extension now processes that protected audio directly. Boost, EQ, Wide/8D/Mono, and Smart Mute all apply to it the way they do to any other tab, without capture being turned on at all.

Sites That Still Need Capture Say So

Some sites’ sound still can’t be reached directly, and for those capture mode remains the way the boost gets to it. The extension now tells you when you’re on one of those sites, in three places at once. A small hint appears on the page itself, once per session, saying the boost needs capture on this site. The toolbar icon carries a badge while the page is one the boost can’t reach. And the popup opens with a banner at the top that offers the choice: “Turn on capture,” or “Not now.” Capture still starts only on your click, and it never starts on its own.

Less Distortion at High Gain

  • Hard clipping on a boosted signal, or on a signal pushed hot by Wide or 8D, is gone: the output now passes through a soft-clip curve instead of slamming a ceiling.
  • The clip knee is softer, which makes the sound cleaner at 1x gain and under boost alike, with no audible brick wall at the top of the range.
  • The 8D level is trimmed, so a loud master no longer clips when 8D is applied on top of it.
  • No new permissions.

What Carries Over

No listing changes. Everything from 1.0.6 carries straight across: your saved EQ presets, Smart Mute and its “mute only when new audio starts” setting, the capture offer with its reason-specific copy, and the badge.
