Boost What the Normal Boost Can't Reach

The normal boost can now reach audio it used to miss. On a site whose sound it can't touch directly, whether that's a file the page loads from outside itself or a player embedded in it, the popup tells you and offers Capture Mode on the spot instead of the slider moving while nothing changes. A new optional Smart Mute setting, "Mute only when new audio starts," mutes nothing when you switch tabs and lets the tab where you last pressed play keep the sound. Both ship off.

Capture for Audio the Boost Can’t Reach

On some sites the normal boost can’t reach the sound at all. It’s not because the file is protected, but because the site plays it in a way that can’t be adjusted directly. Before, the only sign you got was the volume slider moving while nothing changed. Now the popup tells you and offers Capture Mode the moment it happens, rather than waiting for the next time you open it. The offer also stops calling a plain audio file “encrypted” and names the real reason the boost can’t reach it. Capture is still one explicit click: “Turn on capture,” or “Not now.” It never starts on its own. While it’s on, your browser shows a “tab is being shared” indicator. That’s how this boost works, and nothing leaves your computer.

Embedded Players Get the Offer Too

Before, on a page that played its audio inside an embedded player, the popup could show nothing at all. The part of the page that was actually playing got overlooked, so the boost never knew it couldn’t reach the sound. Now the extension looks at every part of the page before deciding. If a player is embedded in it, you get the same capture offer above, instead of a blank popup.

Smart Mute: Mute Only When New Audio Starts

Smart Mute (once it’s on) gets a new setting: “Mute only when new audio starts.” With it on, switching tabs mutes nothing. Instead, the tab where you last pressed play keeps the sound, and only that one press hands the audio over to another tab, silencing the other audible ones. If you haven’t pressed play anywhere yet, or a tab has been quiet for a bit, nothing gets muted at all. A pause between tracks doesn’t hand the audio away. And it no longer re-mutes a tab you’d already unmuted just because you focused it. It ships off by default, and Smart Mute itself still starts off for new installs.

What Carries Over

No new permissions. No listing changes. Everything from 1.0.5 carries straight across: your saved EQ presets, Smart Mute’s current behavior, the master off switch, and the badge.
