Audible Tabs — See Every Tab Playing Audio in Chrome
The SuperchargeAudio popup lists every tab currently making sound. Jump to it or mute it directly — no tab-hunting required.
Updated
Chrome marks tabs with a small speaker icon when they are playing audio. Finding the right one across 20 open tabs is still slow. The audible-tabs list skips that step.
Open the SuperchargeAudio popup and you see every tab currently making sound, listed by title. Two actions are available from the list: jump to the tab, or mute it.
What the List Shows
The audible-tabs list is a real-time view of your open tabs that are actively producing audio. It updates as tabs start and stop playing.
| What you see | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Tab title and site | Jump to that tab immediately |
| Audio-active indicator | Mute the tab without leaving your current tab |
Tabs that are already muted do not appear in the list. The list reflects what is audible right now.
Jumping to a Tab
Clicking a tab title in the list switches focus to that tab. This is faster than scanning your tab bar, particularly when the playing tab is in a different window or buried far to the right.
Muting From the List
You can mute any listed tab with a single click. The tab is muted immediately and removed from the audible-tabs list. You stay on your current tab throughout.
This is a manual action. The tab stays muted until you unmute it or the page reloads, depending on how the site handles audio state.
How This Differs From Smart Mute
Smart Mute operates automatically: background tabs are muted as you navigate, so only your active tab ever plays. The audible-tabs list is manual. It gives you a view of what is playing and lets you act on specific tabs.
The two features address different situations. Smart Mute is for continuous tab-switching workflows where background audio should never compete. The audible-tabs list is for targeted control — you heard something, you want to find it and decide what to do.
When to Use the Audible-Tabs List
- Something is playing and you cannot identify which tab
- You want to mute one specific tab without affecting the others
- You have Smart Mute off and prefer to manage audio manually
- You need to jump to a tab that started playing in the background
Privacy
The audible-tabs list is generated locally from your open browser tabs. No tab titles, URLs, or audio data are stored or transmitted. SuperchargeAudio has no telemetry and requires no account.
