A rebuilt editor — timeline editing, offline captions & more

Version 1.1.1 rebuilds the editor. Recordings open on a real timeline: split clips, change their speed, delete a section — or every silent stretch at once — and the rest closes up. Zoom is edited after recording instead of locked in at capture. Timed annotations, a movable blur region, background music that dips under your voice, and an editable webcam layer all live on the timeline, and auto-captions are generated on your device by a speech model bundled inside the extension — fully offline. Projects save and reopen, every edit has undo, and the screenshot editor gains paste-to-edit, crop, and new tools. No new permissions.

A real timeline

Recordings now open on a rebuilt timeline with a time ruler and separate tracks for clips, zoom, and annotations. You can split a clip at the playhead, give each clip its own playback speed with smooth ramps between them, and delete a section so everything after it slides in to close the gap. One button finds the silent stretches in a recording and removes them all at once, and clip boundaries can get fade transitions.

Zoom you can edit afterward

Automatic zoom used to be decided at record time. It’s now an editable part of the recording: add or delete zoom segments on the timeline, adjust when each one starts and ends and how far it zooms, and drag the zoom box directly on the video to choose what it frames.

Auto-captions, fully offline

The editor can generate captions for a recording on your device. The speech-recognition model ships inside the extension, so captioning downloads nothing and no audio ever leaves your computer.

Annotations, blur & music

Arrows, boxes, and text can now be placed on video with a start and end time — drawn on the video, moved on the canvas, and dragged on their own timeline track. A blur region can hide sensitive content and follow it by moving and resizing over time. Background music comes with a volume control and automatically dips under the recording’s own audio. A new webcam mode records the camera as its own layer, so you can drag, resize, mirror, and reshape the bubble in the editor afterward — the live on-screen bubble stays the default, as it shipped in 1.0.2.

Cursor, clicks & keystrokes

The polished cursor grew into a full panel: a size slider, adjustable smoothing, auto-hide when idle, a hide-cursor toggle, and a spotlight that follows the pointer. Clicks get a choice of highlight styles, a ripple effect, and an optional click sound. A keystroke display can show the keys you press on screen — useful for tutorials.

Framing & looks

Recordings can sit on a solid, gradient, or image background with adjustable shadow, corner radius, and padding, plus aspect-ratio presets and a free transform. Three one-click presets — Clean, Cinematic, and Tutorial — set a whole look at once.

Projects, undo & export

Edits save as a project you can close and reopen later. Every change has undo and redo, keyboard shortcuts cover the common actions (press ? for the full list), and export gains more control along with a better GIF encoder.

Screenshot editor upgrades

You can now paste (Ctrl/⌘ V), drop, or browse an image straight into the editor — no capture needed. The toolset adds Select/move, Step number, and Spotlight, plus crop with ratio presets. Colors get a custom picker, curated palettes, per-tool defaults, and every placed object appears in a list for easy selection.

Quieter asks

The microphone is requested only when a recording actually needs it, the occasional review prompt is capped so it can’t reappear too often, and suggestions for our other extensions are paced out instead of arriving back to back.
