Video Ad Blocking, Popup Blocker & Cookie Consent Upgrade

Performance v1.3.0

Pre-rolls, mid-rolls, overlays, and the countdown timer on YouTube: gone. When Twitch inserts an ad segment, the extension swaps in the backup stream without a black screen. Sites that fire popups or popup-unders get blocked automatically, while same-domain windows and OAuth flows pass through. Cookie banner rejection now covers more CMPs at higher speed. 186,573 rules across 22 sources, ranked by real-world traffic impact.

  • YouTube video ad blocking — no more pre-rolls, mid-rolls, or overlay ads
  • Twitch ad blocking — stream continues uninterrupted during ad breaks
  • Popup and popup-under blocker with smart allow-listing
  • AutoConsent upgraded to 14.67.0 for better cookie banner detection
  • Cosmetic filtering improvements and performance hardening
  • Blocklists refreshed to 186,573 rules from 22 sources

YouTube Ad Blocking

Pre-rolls, mid-rolls, overlay ads, and the “ad in 5 seconds” countdown — all gone. SuperchargePerformance now blocks YouTube video ads at both the network and page level. The system also handles YouTube’s anti-adblock popups automatically.

Respects your per-site whitelist: if you whitelist youtube.com, ads come back on that domain only.

Twitch Ad Blocking

Twitch ad breaks no longer interrupt your stream. When Twitch inserts an ad segment, the extension swaps in the backup stream seamlessly — no black screens, no buffering, no purple “ad in progress” overlay.

Sites that spawn popup windows without your permission — ad redirects, popup-unders that appear behind your browser, overlay-triggered new tabs — are now blocked automatically.

Smart exceptions keep legitimate flows working: same-domain popups, login and OAuth windows, and anything you clicked intentionally within the last 2 seconds all pass through.

The cookie banner auto-rejection engine (powered by DuckDuckGo AutoConsent) jumps from 14.56.0 to 14.67.0. More consent management platforms detected, faster banner dismissal, and better scroll-lock removal on pages that freeze scrolling behind their consent popup.

Cosmetic Filtering

The page cleanup system that hides ad containers, newsletter popups, and sponsored content blocks is now smarter about when to stop checking — saving CPU on pages with lots of DOM changes but no ads. Site-specific rules for YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit are refreshed.

Refreshed Blocklists

All 22 sources refreshed. 186,573 rules across three tiers: 100K ad and tracker domains (Free), 65K privacy and telemetry (Medium), and 22K malware, phishing, and fraud (Pro). Domains are ranked by real-world traffic impact so the highest-reach ad networks are blocked first.
