Privacy Policy
Last Updated: November 24, 2025
1. Our Core Privacy Commitment
Privacy is not an afterthought; it is the core feature of SuperchargeBrowser. We believe your browsing data belongs to you. We have engineered our extension to operate locally on your device whenever possible.
We do not collect, store, sell, or share your browsing history, search queries, or website data.
2. Data We Collect (and Why)
We limit data collection to the absolute minimum required to provide the functionality of the extension and our website.
A. Extension: Browsing Data (None)
We do not transmit your browsing history, open tabs, or page content to any external server.
All optimization logic (ad blocking, tab suspension, script control) happens locally on your machine using bundled blocklists and algorithms.
B. Website: Waitlist & Communication
What: When you visit our website (superchargebrowser.com) and join our waitlist, we collect your email address.
Why: To notify you about product launches, updates, and exclusive discounts (such as early-adopter offers).
Storage: This data is stored securely with our email service providers. You may unsubscribe at any time.
C. PRO Accounts (Future Feature)
What: If you choose to upgrade to SuperchargeBrowser PRO in the future, we will process account identifiers (such as an email or license key) to verify your subscription.
Why: Strictly to unlock PRO features.
Storage: Payments and subscriptions are handled by our third-party Merchant of Record. We do not store credit card details.
D. Extension Settings
Your preferences (e.g., whitelisted domains, suspension timers) are stored locally in your browser's storage (chrome.storage.local). They are not synced to our servers.
3. Chrome Permissions Explained
To provide its features, SuperchargeBrowser requires specific permissions defined in our manifest. Here is exactly why we need them and how they are used locally:
host_permissions (<all_urls>): Grants the extension access to inject performance optimization scripts (such as resource prioritization, JavaScript throttling, preloading, and font optimization) on all websites you visit. These scripts run locally within your browser to enhance page loading speeds and memory usage. Crucially, this permission is used solely for performance; we do not read, store, or transmit any personal data, browsing history, or content from the pages.
storage: Used strictly to save your user preferences (like feature toggles and whitelisted domains) locally on your device. No settings are sent to the cloud.
tabs: Required to monitor the lifecycle of your tabs (identifying which are active vs. inactive) to perform Tab Suspension and Page Preloading. We access tab metadata to perform these actions, but we do not log or transmit this data.
declarativeNetRequest: The core engine of our ad and tracker blocker. This allows us to provide the browser with a list of rules to block ads and trackers. This is a privacy-preserving method where the blocking logic happens inside the browser without our extension needing to read your network requests.
scripting: Required to inject lightweight content scripts that handle Image Blocking, Font Optimization, and Script Throttling directly on the pages you visit. These scripts run locally and do not report data back to us.
alarms: Used to manage internal timers, specifically to check when a tab has been inactive for your set duration (e.g., 5 minutes) so it can be suspended to save memory.
4. Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party service providers to help us operate our business, not the extension's logic.
Payment Processing: We use a specialized Merchant of Record to handle all secure payments, tax compliance, and billing.
Email Services: We use industry-standard email providers to manage our waitlist and send product updates.
Website Analytics: We use privacy-focused analytics on our website to understand traffic trends.
5. Data Retention
Browsing Data: Since we do not collect it, we have nothing to retain.
Waitlist Data: We retain your email until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
Subscription Data: We retain license status information for as long as your subscription is active to provide the service.
6. Children’s Privacy
SuperchargeBrowser is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our features or legal requirements. If we make significant changes, we will notify you via the extension or our website.
