## Three moves and you’re set

Learn these first. The rest you can pick up whenever you need it.

`Alt`+`B`

### Show the sidebar

Bring your tabs and workspaces up, or tuck them away.

`Alt`+`K`

### Command bar

Type to jump to any tab, bookmark, history entry, or workspace.

`Alt`+`G`

### Smart group

Group every open tab by site in one keystroke.

New tab page

## Every new tab, your workspace

Turn it on and every new tab opens on your workspaces — switch contexts with one click, type anywhere to search across tabs and bookmarks, or jump straight to a pinned site. New installs leave your new tab alone until you flip the master switch in Options, and every row is toggleable from there.

* Switch workspace with one click — favicon stack & tab count
* Type anywhere — fuzzy search across tabs, bookmarks, and history
* Hide any top-site tile per-domain — your bookmarks, your screen
* Light and dark — auto-switches with your system theme

Cross-device sync

## Your workspaces, on every Chrome

Sign into the same browser account on another computer (Chrome with Google, Edge with Microsoft), enable sync, and your workspaces are already there. Routes through the browser's built-in sync — the same channel as your bookmarks. **SuperchargeBrowser has no servers and no access to your data.**

* **Enabled by default.** Readable remote data can resolve setup automatically, and choosing Skip also permits syncing. Otherwise writes wait for setup resolution.
* **Routes through browser sync.** Your data stays in your Google account on Chrome, your Microsoft account on Edge — same as bookmarks and passwords.
* **Disable on this device.** Local workspaces and the existing remote copy remain intact.

Workspaces updated from MacBook Pro

Workspaces sync through the browser's built-in sync — your data stays in your Google account on Chrome, your Microsoft account on Edge. SuperchargeBrowser never sees it.

## 26 features. Zero friction.

Each one solves a real tab problem. All of them work together.

Core

* ### Cross-Device Sync
  Workspaces follow your browser account

  Sign in to the same browser on another computer, enable sync, your workspaces appear. Chrome syncs with Chrome, Edge with Edge. Routes through the browser's built-in sync — never our servers.
* ### New Tab Page
  Workspaces, search, top sites — first thing you see

  Workspace cards, pinned tabs, top sites, fuzzy search, clock. Every row toggleable. Master switch returns Chrome default.
* ### Universal Search `Alt+K`
  Find anything in milliseconds

  Open tabs, bookmarks, history, commands, workspaces. Fuzzy matching for partial names. Shows up in the new tab page too.

Foundations

* ### [In-Page Sidebar](/in-page-sidebar/)
  Floating in-page tab list. Narrower than Chrome's panel, docks left/right, collapses to favicon strip.
* ### Vertical Tabs
  Full titles, favicons, group colors. Drag to reorder.
* ### Persistent Workspaces
  Save tab groups by name. Switch in one click. Survives restarts.
* ### Multi-Window Mode
  Each Chrome window runs its own workspace.

Navigate

* ### Hint Mode `Shift`
  Hold Shift and letter labels overlay every link. Type to click, no mouse.
* ### Type-to-Select
  Type to highlight matching text. Arrow keys rotate matches.
* ### Toggle Side Panel `Alt+B`
  Open or close the panel without reaching for the mouse.
* ### Tab Scroll `Alt+Scroll`
  Alt+Scroll to cycle tabs. Shift+Scroll jumps groups.
* ### Glance Preview `Alt+Click`
  Alt+Click any link to peek without leaving your page.
* ### Super Drag
  Drag links to open. Drag text to search.
* ### Rocker Gestures
  Right→Left = back. Left→Right = forward.

Organize

* ### Smart Grouping `Alt+G`
  One shortcut auto-groups all tabs by domain.
* ### Copy and paste tab URLs
  In the ⋯ More menu, copy all tab URLs or paste a list to open as tabs.
* ### Export and import workspaces
  In the ⋯ More menu, download, export or import workspaces from a file.
* ### Tab Deduplicator
  Auto-merges duplicate tabs, or clear them on demand.
* ### Bulk Actions `Ctrl+Click`
  Ctrl+Click to multi-select. Pin, mute, group, or close together.
* ### Tab Notes
  Annotate any tab. Notes persist and search via Alt+K.
* ### Context Menus
  Right-click for Copy URL, Lock, Send to Workspace, and more.

Protect

* ### Time travel
  One snapshot, every workspace. Rewind any subset.
* ### Auto Snapshots
  Captured every five minutes. Fifty kept (~four hours).
* ### Tab Lock
  Lock tabs to prevent accidental closure.
* ### Session Restore
  Auto-saves sessions. Recover from crashes instantly.
* ### Per-Site Pause `Alt+Shift+P`
  Mute page-keystroke features on one site. Alt+Shift+P or the header pill.

## Frequently asked questions

How does cross-device sync work — and what does it send?

Browser-account workspace sync is enabled by default. Readable remote data can resolve setup automatically, and choosing Skip also permits syncing; otherwise writes wait for setup resolution. You can disable sync on this device, preserving local workspaces and the existing remote copy. Workspace sync uses your browser account, not a SuperchargeBrowser workspace server. Synced data includes workspace names and icons, tab URLs and titles, pinned state, group structure, active workspace, and device and sync metadata. The time-travel timeline, automatic Saved Tabs backups, and favicons are excluded.

Can I keep Chrome's default new tab page?

Yes — that's the default. New installs send new tabs to Google, or any address you pick, until you turn the dashboard on in Options > New tab page, and the same master switch turns it back off. You can also keep the page on but disable individual rows (clock, workspaces, pinned tabs, top sites, search) from Settings > Features. Top sites and pinned-tab tiles each have a per-site hide control on hover.

Does each Chrome window keep its own workspace?

Yes — that's multi-window mode. The side panel reflects whichever window is currently active, so switching from a work window to a personal window also switches your tab list and groups.

Is SuperchargeNavigation free?

Yes. Every feature is free. No PRO tier, no subscription, no upsells. All 26 features work out of the box at no cost.

Does it replace Chrome's tab bar?

No. It adds a side panel alongside your existing tab bar. You can use both — or collapse the built-in tab bar if you prefer a cleaner look.

Does it work with SuperchargePerformance?

Yes. They're designed to complement each other — Performance handles memory and ad blocking, Navigation handles organization. Install both for the complete setup.

Is it really a free Arc alternative?

Yes. Vertical tabs, persistent workspaces, keyboard-first navigation, and now cross-device sync — the features people loved about Arc — built natively for Chrome with zero tracking and no new browser to install.

Does SuperchargeNavigation work on Firefox?

Yes. As of October 2026, it is available free on Firefox Add-ons and requires Firefox 140 or newer. Vertical tabs open in the Firefox sidebar rather than a side panel, and the sidebar does not auto-open in new windows (use Alt+B or the toolbar button). Workspace sync uses your Firefox account, and link previews show framed sites or titles with open buttons for blocked sites.
