A recording that crashes out mid-take usually feels like it is gone. With SuperchargeCapture it is not: footage is written to local storage while you record, and if a recording did not finish cleanly, the popup offers a 'Recover unsaved recording' action that hands it back. It is free, with no paid tier.

## What Recovery Does

The recovery is for SuperchargeCapture's own interrupted recordings; it is not a general video-recovery tool for files on your machine or for recordings made by other apps.

## Setup in Three Steps

1. A recording is interrupted before it finishes.
2. Reopen the SuperchargeCapture popup, where the 'Recover unsaved recording' action is offered.
3. Choose it, and the recovered footage opens in the editor, ready to trim or export.

## What It Controls

Recovery works on recordings SuperchargeCapture started on your device. The footage lives in the browser's Origin Private File System (OPFS), in local recordings and screenshots folders. While a recording is in progress, it is flushed to local storage in roughly one-second chunks, so an interruption leaves nearly all of the footage on disk. The loss is the part that had not been flushed yet.

## How It Differs From a Finished Export

A finished recording goes straight to the editor, where it exports as WebM, MP4 (where the browser can encode it) or GIF. Recovery is the other half of the same pipeline: it picks up the footage of a recording that was interrupted before it could reach that export step. It does not restore files you have deleted from disk.

## Permissions, Privacy and Compatibility

SuperchargeCapture declares the activeTab, storage, tabs, tabCapture, offscreen, scripting, unlimitedStorage and identity permissions. Recordings are kept in local browser storage on your device, and the extension sends no usage analytics or telemetry. The only data path off the machine is the optional, user-initiated Google Drive share of a finished export.
